4 luxurious places for your parents to stay in Sheffield
When your parents come to visit you in Sheffield, it might not be a break for you, but it certainly is a break for them. Sheffield is a wonderful city and there is so much for your family to experience. As it’s a break, they probably don’t want to sleep on your bedroom floor, so why not impress them by making their Sheffield stay memorable. We’ve found four places that will ensure a memorable and luxurious trip to the seven hills of Sheffield. Our recommendations might even earn you some brownie points for the next time you try to make a withdrawal from the Bank of Mum and Dad.
Mercure Sheffield St Pauls
If your family want to be central while they’re in the city, why not look to the Mercure Sheffield. This hotel is in the heart of the city and the entrance is at the bottom of the Peace Gardens. Some of the rooms offer excellent views of the city so remember to ask for such a room. There is also a contemporary restaurant, champagne bar and a sauna/steam room/ ice fountain to boot. Beware: your parents might not want to spend too much time with you if they opt for the Mercure St Pauls hotel. Which might suit you too!
Leopold Hotel Sheffield
The Leopold Hotel is built on the former site of a Grade II listed Boys Grammar School. Apparently, it is Sheffield’s only four-star boutique hotel.
Probably the greatest reason for your parents to stay here is that the hotel entrance opens up onto Leopold Square. If you somehow don’t yet know, there are loads of great restaurants here for them to try. To name just a few, Leopold Square includes Wagamama, Strada, Cubana, Aagrar, and The Botanist.
Bonus: You might even get a posh meal out of it.
House Boat Hotels Ltd
If your Mum and Dad are the adventurous types then why not go completely left field with our next pick: Spend a few days on a boat!
House Boat Hotels offer apartment style accommodation in Sheffield’s unique waterfront location of Victoria Quays. The boats are permanently moored, so don’t go getting any crazy ideas.
Victoria Quays is located right next to the Hilton Sheffield, and you are given free access to Hilton’s Living Well Health Club. Included is a gym, swimming pool, steam room, and hot tub so you’re getting the best of both worlds! The boats are also available all year round.
We absolutely must point out that there is also an English breakfast included too. You can guess which one gets our vote.
What a unique way to remember Sheffield by.
Cross Scythes Hotel
Sheffield is an amazing city, as you are now learning. There is also just as much great stuff on the fringes of Sheffield, out in the countryside. The Peak District is only 16 miles out of Sheffield. If Mum and Dad are a fan of the countryside why not try the Cross Scythes Hotel in Totley.
The Cross Scythes Hotel includes a pub and a restaurant. The picturesque pub is housed in a building, which according to Sheffield History, in part dates from the 17th century. Expect proper food and proper beer. Starting at only £65 a night this could be the best value hotel on our list.
If your parents have stayed anywhere else whilst in Sheffield that impressed them please let us know and we’ll add it to our list.
